Ragner Relay

So it turns out I have a few blog stocker I didn't know about, they have been asking when I was going to update my blog. Little did they know our life is boring and I have nothing to blog about. Anyhow I will try my hardest to be a better blogger. The last two weeks have been crazy busy with racing and camp. Most of you know Justin and I have been training for the Ragner Relay that runs from Logan to Park City (12 man relay for 188 miles). Each person runs 3 legs ranging from about 13 miles to 18 miles. Both Justin and I had one of the 18 mile legs. Lucky us! I was so excited to run with Justin and the Stangers. I have heard about this race and have always wanted to do it. I wasn't quite sure how to train for it so I just ran not knowing what I was doing. I felt like I was doing a fairly good job at training but oh boy was I wrong. This race was the hardest race I have done. Could be the week of girls camp prior to the race but maybe not. My first leg was 6 miles coming down off Avon Pass on a rocky dirt road lined with cars. I aways thought pedestrians had the right of way but not on this road. I was so mad at one particular car by time I got to the bottom, they almost ran me off the road twice. When I got to the bottom I had 2.5 more miles to go. Lets just say they were the longest 2.5 miles of my life. People kept telling me just around the corner, just a little bit further, another .25 mile! Oh man was that wearing on my patience. Finally I could see the exchange point with Shauna waiting for me. I couldn't get there fast enough. That leg just about killed me and how was I going to run two more legs of the race? My second leg was 8 miles from Protterville to East Canyon Resivor all up hill. I made my self sick all day Friday worrying about it. I had a motto though that kept me going "Slow and Steady Wins the Race" and "I think I can...I think I can" I felt pretty good running this leg though I got pretty tired. It was dark when I ran and it was so peaceful. I really enjoyed the time thinking and listening to music. Once in a lifetime opportunity I tell ya! Justin met me for the last uphill push to the exchange point, he said I was just around the corner and I thought oh ya I've heard that one before. But he was right it was. I pushed through and finished that leg strong. All worries were gone, all I had to do was finish the last 3 mile leg through Heber City and I was done! I had the best 3 hours sleep in my life on the flour of a High School in Coalville, all rested up for my last leg. Justin will have to tell you about his legs. I'm not sure he is as dramatic as I am. We had lots of good fun in our van.

Here is a picture of our van with Randy on top. He provided us with lots of fun and entertainment!

Justin sporting his Ragner tat, all our teammate had one!

Justin coming in after running his first leg. Doesn't he look good?

Here we are waiting for my second leg. Oh so cute!
