Just like Where the Red Fern Grows!!!

WARNING! If you are an animal lover or activist you need to stop reading this, what I have to say is not for you.

The kids have been dieing to watch the dogs at work chasing a coon. Yesterday we got all our homework done so we could go help dad train the dogs. The coon was prepped and ready with the kids feeding and poking it all day. We ventured up to the local hills where we could let the dogs go to work. It took some effort but we got the coon out of the trap and it was off. The dogs were going crazy, they wanted the coon. After a few seconds we let the dogs go. They chased the coon up a bush. In the movie "Where the Red Fern Grows" this is all you see. It's a good thing because the rest is quite cruel but exciting. We shook the coon out of the tree and the animals fought. Very Exciting! Scout was freaked out for a second but I reassured her we were hunting and then she was OK. We (when I say we I mean Justin and Paul) pulled the dogs back and the coon ran up another tree. We were bummed for a minute thinking it was all over in a matter of a few minutes. We all thought, "Man I wish there was some way to get the coon out of the tree!" Just then Justin ran after the truck and returned with an ax. He chopped down the tree and the kids chanted "just like 'Where the Red Fern Grows!'" You should have seen their faces. It was like they were in the movie themselves. I would like to say that was the end like the movie but it was not. But if any of those tree hugers choose to read on I will finish hear. It was really an interesting experience.

I know what some of you may be thinking you cruel heartless women who has no respect for Gods creatures. I really do love animals (most of the them). I also believe in the circle of life and the laws of nature. I really don't want to explain and I don't have time because I need to get Kallee to school. Gotta Go!
